Speaker of State Great Khural receives ADB delegation

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On March 10, Speaker of the State Great Khural G.Zandanshatar received a delegation led by Director-General of the Asian Development Bank’s East Asia Department Teresa Kho.


At the outset of the meeting, Speaker G.Zandanshatar expressed his pleasure to meet with Director-General Tereso Ho and noted that last year marked the 30th anniversary of Mongolia’s partnership with the ADB.


Director-General Teresa Kho thanked the Speaker for taking the time to meet with her and expressed satisfaction that the ADB has been working with the Government of Mongolia for the past 30 years to successfully implement many fruitful investment and aid projects. Briefing on ADB’s investment plans and financing agreements for the near future, she stressed the need to prioritize the country’s post-pandemic economic recovery.


For his part, Speaker G.Zandanshatar said that the laws and regulations that will enforce the creation of a favorable legal environment for investors and businesses are planned to be discussed and approved during the forthcoming spring session of the State Great Khural.


During the meeting, the parties discussed the priority areas of the Government of Mongolia in the post-pandemic economic recovery, including improving border infrastructure, diversifying the economy, decentralizing the budget, mobilizing domestic resources, and supporting value-added production. They also agreed to continue to cooperate effectively in these areas.


Head of the Foreign Relations Department of the State Great Khural Ts.Jambaldorj, Advisor to the ADB’s East Asia General-Director Safdar Parvez, ADB Country Director for Mongolia Pavit Ramachandran, ADB Deputy Country Director for Mongolia and Chief Economist Declan Magee and other officials were present at the meeting.
