Total COVID-19 cases in Mongolia at 315, no infection in community

At today’s press briefing of the Ministry of Health on the COVID-19 update, Director of the Center for Communicable Diseases D.Nyamkhuu reported that one more coronavirus patient has been recovered and was transferred to the next stage of mandatory isolation. The recovered person is 57-year old woman who arrived in Mongolia on a charter flight from Seattle, USA on September 2 and was immediately put under 21-day mandatory isolation. 


It was also reported yesterday that one more coronavirus case had been confirmed within the past two days after a total of 1,281 people have been tested by four laboratories nationwide.  The newly confirmed COVID-19 patient is a 36-year old Russian man, who entered Mongolia across the Altanbulag border checking point on October 4. This brings the total number of freight drivers who were confirmed to have the virus while in Mongolia to 16. 


As of October 7, the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Mongolia is at 315, with 308 of them or 98 percent have already been recovered, and there has been no community transmission.
