First passive house built in Dundgobi aimag
SocietyDundgobi /MONTSAME/ With new technology, two-storey passive house in which heat comes from light bulbs was built in Mandalgobi city of Dundgobi aimag and has been presented to public. This is the first house built in the aimag under passive house standard. Passive house is a rigorous voluntary standard for energy efficiency in a building.
Director of
Sakura Property LLC N.Ganbaa, who had worked in Japan in construction sector for
many years, studied various energy efficient technologies for air pollution
reduction and he chose passive house technology.
As the cost
of passive house was higher than normal house, his team decided to produce insulation materials by themselves and started to do all the works themselves from making window,
door to converting electric power.
400 kWt/h heat
energy is spent per square meter in typical building in Ulaanbaatar city a year
whereas energy use in passive house shows 13 kWt/h according to two times confirmation
by international standards experts. It means the passive building consumes 30 times less energy than typical building.
Based on estimation of its energy use, heat loss and consumption expense, the passive house is costed at MNT 1.2-1.5 million per square meter.
