Ambassador hands over FM’s letters to Azerbaijani side
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ While taking part in the 7th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) in Baku, Azerbaijan, the Non-Resident Ambassador of Mongolia to Azerbaijan Mr Batkhishig met with Mr Hazar Farkhadov, Director of the First Asian Department of the Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassador handed over to Mr Farkhadov a letter from the Mongolian FM inviting his counterpart to visit Mongolia and another letter calling for Azerbaijan to join the multilateral agreement on establishment of the International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries which is co-signed by the Mongolian FM and Dr Shamshad Akhtar, the Under-Secretary of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific.
At the meeting, the parties elaborated agenda and documents to be signed during the visit of the Azerbaijani FM to Mongolia and matters related to joining the International Think Tank for Landlocked Developing Countries.
The same day, the Ambassador met with Elman Agaev, Director-General of the Department of Analysis and Strategic Studies at the Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and handed over copies of the letters.
Mr Batkhishig reminded that the multilateral agreement for the Think Tank’s establishment was endorsed in 2010, and eight landlocked developing countries have signed the agreement so far. The Ambassador said Mongolia believes Azerbaijan will join the agreement.
In response, Mr Elman Agaev expressed his country’s willingness to collaborate closely with all its regional neighbors in the economic and infrastructural fields and said the Mongolia’s request will be taken into consideration immediately.
