Foreign Minister meets UNESCAP Executive Secretary

On May 28, Minister of Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar met with UNESCAP Executive
Secretary Armida Alisjahbana on the sidelines of the ESCAP's 75th session
taking place in Bangkok, Thailand.
At the meeting, the sides exchanged views on cooperation between Mongolia and UNESCAP. Mr. Tsogtbaatar noted that Mongolia highly praises the UNESCAP’s contribution to the country’s socio-economic development during its transitional period. He expressed Mongolia's support to any initiatives and efforts of the UN, which ensures equal participation of countries on any issues.
Moreover, the Minister asked support for training and practicing specialists of environment, trade, transport, energy and disaster protection in the respective divisions of the commission, while proposing to deepen bilateral cooperation.
Ms. Armida Alisjahbana congratulated Mr. Tsogtbaatar on his chairing
the 75th session of the United Nations Economic
and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. The ESCAP
suggested Mongolia to study an issue of joining to the
Framework Agreement on Facilitation of Cross-border Paperless Trade in Asia and
the Pacific, initiated by the ESCAP. In regard, the sides agreed to
collaborate on it.
