Ulaanbaatar, July 9, 2025 /MONTSAME/. As part of Their Majesties’ State Visit to Mongolia at the invitation of the President of Mongolia, Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, the Emperor and Empress of Japan visited the Mongol–Japan Hospital of the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences.
Their Majesties were welcomed by Minister of Health Dr.
J. Chinburen and Hospital Director P. Bayasgalan, who provided an overview of
the hospital’s operations and activities.
The Mongol–Japan Hospital was established through a Grant
Aid Agreement signed between the Governments of Mongolia and Japan on May 12,
2015, under Japan’s Official Development Assistance (ODA) program. The hospital
was officially inaugurated on June 19, 2019, in a ceremony attended by the then Prime Minister of
Mongolia, Khurelsukh
Ukhnaa and Japan’s then Minister for Foreign Affairs, Taro Kono.
During the visit, Their Majesties toured the inpatient
department and met with doctors, students, and staff members who had studied in
Japan.
The Mongol–Japan Hospital plays a vital role in
strengthening Mongolia’s health sector by aligning its services with MNUMS’s
policies on education, scientific research, and innovation. It serves as a
full-fledged university hospital, with the aim of ensuring sustainable
management and advancing medical education, human resource capacity, and
healthcare services to international standards. The “Project for Strengthening
Hospital Management and Medical Training at Mongol–Japan Hospital,” launched in
2023 with technical cooperation from the Government of Japan, continues to be
implemented successfully.
The hospital provides specialized outpatient services in 28 fields, as well as inpatient treatment in areas such as respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, neurology, pediatrics, general medicine, gynecology, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, oncology, and trauma and orthopedic surgery.
