Schedule Announced for 39th ‘Book Festival’
Art & Culture
Ulaanbaatar, April 17, 2026 /MONTSAME/. The much-anticipated “Book Festival” for book lovers will be held at Sukhbaatar Square from May 15 to 17.
The
festival continues to expand year by year, attracting over 300,000 readers on
average. More than 200 publishers and around 300 authors, translators, editors,
illustrators, and researchers regularly take part. Since 2018, the “Nomiin Soyolt Yurtunts” NGO has run a “Fellowship Program” for
foreign publishers, helping expand international partnerships. At this spring
festival, organizers will present the “50 Books to Nourish the Mind” list for
the 2026–2027 school year, aiming to encourage values such as kindness,
respect, and understanding.
In
addition, the festival will recommend 50 books for general education schools
and review the reading activities of the 2025–2026 academic year, with the goal
of fostering a love of reading among children.
This
year also features a “50 Books on Nature and Ecology” reading competition. Its
goal is to promote environmental awareness, encourage responsible relationships
with nature, and support ecological education. Through the competition,
organizers aim to inspire readers to care for nature, protect cultural and
natural heritage, and develop creative ideas related to environmental issues. The
best works will be displayed to the public, and the most active and
well-organized school will receive the “Best Friend of Books” award, named
after the President of Mongolia.
