President receives Mr Kazunori Tanaka
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj Monday met a delegation headed by visiting Mr Kazunori Tanaka, member of the House of Representatives (lower house) of Japanese parliament and chairman of the external relations division at the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), in the State House.
Mr Tanaka conveyed to the President greetings of Motoo Hayashi, Chair of the Japan-Mongolia Friendship Group at the House of Representatives and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, and said Japanese people are grateful to the Mongolian government and people for rendering humanitarian aid after recent earthquakes in Kumamoto Prefecture.
Mr Tanaka noted the bilateral relations have been deepening in various spheres, while mentioning about the visits of Mongolian President, Speaker and Premier to Japan. He highlighted two-time visits of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Mongolia were historical in bilateral ties which indicate the fact that Japan attaches a partiular importance to the relations with Mongolia.
Regular elections to the House of Representatives are expected in July, while the Mongolian parliamentary elections are scheduled earlier, in June, so the President Elbegdorj wished Japan’s Lower House members success in their future endeavors.
“I am very glad to meet you and appreciate you for conveying the warm greetings of our old friends. The mutual relationship, especially the inter-parliamentary ties have been rapidly intensifying. We give a great importance to the exchanges of high-level visits between the Parliaments,” Mr Elbegdorj noted.
“We are on the brink of implementing the Economic Partnership Agreement. Our countries are implementing a number of joint projects such as the new international airport in Ulaanbaatar and the construction of Bayanzurkh hospital. We are grateful for the achievements. The bilateral business cooperation is possible to expand through the EPA,” he said, and then asked Mr Tanaka to convey greetings to the Premier Shinzo Abe.
In turn, Mr Tanaka said he is confident Mongolia will host the upcoming 11th ASEM Summit successfully. He emphasized that effective implementation of the bilateral strategic partnership is important and that is true of the multilateral dialogue. "I believe that the economic ties between Japan and Mongolia will expand through the EPA", he added.
