Ulaanbaatar, April 10, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Construction of the National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography is underway in Zuunmod, Tuv aimag, commissioned by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth, with completion targeted for next year.

The museum will meet international standards and include conservation and research laboratories. Once operational, it is expected to improve the environment for archaeological, paleontological, and ethnographic research, while creating an open, multi-functional space for education and public engagement and contributing to local development.

During the visit, project co-lead and Director of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, Chuluun Sampildondov, said the decision to establish the museum was first made when President Khurelsukh served as prime minister. He noted that the museum will include internationally compliant laboratories, a children’s museum and a library, and will serve as a comprehensive center for the study, conservation and promotion of both tangible and intangible heritage, with potential to support historical tourism.
