Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In partnership with the Education Cooperation Association, the Mongol Ecology Center virtually organized an in-service training for six general education school teachers under the EU-funded Youth Sustainability Corps program.

About 90 teachers of schools in Ulaanbaatar city, Nalaikh district, Umnugobi aimag, Gurvantes, Mankhan and Munkhkhairkhan soums of Khovd aimag took part in the training.

When the pandemic forced the schools to close, students are facing challenges that lead to learning gaps and losses. The training includes Creative Thinking Development Methodology, Thinking Training, and Learning, Integration Lesson Planning, Development and Teaching Methodology, and Online Materials Use Methodology.

As a result of the training, teachers began to develop new initiatives to improve the quality of their teaching, eliminate learning losses, improve coordination between the teachers, and reduce the workload of both teachers and students. Moreover, works to prepare integrated lessons, develop and test new homework options, and increase parent and community participation began to be carried out.

A schoolteacher in Munkhkhairkhan soum of Khovd province Kh.Uugantsetseg: "Many students are not able to study due to transhumance. Therefore, our team's teachers developed integrated lessons and homework and delivered them in printed form. We also created video lessons and showed them to other teachers and parents for their thoughts".

The Mongol Ecology Center plans to provide more in-service training for urban and rural general education school teachers within the EU-funded Youth Sustainability Corps program's scope.
