8,900 railway staff involved in COVID-19 testing

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Of the 15.6 thousand staff of Ulaanbaatar Railway, 8,900 staff have been tested for COVID-19 so far, reported the Ministry of Road and Transport Development.
Due to the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic, an operative team is currently working at the railway company to enhance their readiness of operations, limit the spread of the virus through surveillance, ensure the infection control measures are being followed, and corresponding decisions are properly implemented.
During the operative team’s meeting, it was informed that Deputy Minister of Road and Transport Development J.Bat-Erdene is currently working in Orkhon aimag as according to the decision made by the State Emergency Commission, and that 238 people have been temporarily moved to isolation facilities in order to carry out tests for COVID-19. They also discussed continuing to conduct railway transportation using the railway company’s own resources while 180 staff members are being tested.
As the Head of the operative team, Minister of Road and Transport Development L.Khaltar thanked the team members and railway staff for conducting work effectively in a short amount of time, and obliged the corresponding organizations and authorities, which included:
-to come to a decision with the Chinese side about cross-border freight, improvement in the working conditions of technicians, and heightening infection controls, (to put forth the suggestion during an online conference between railway representatives of Mongolia and China),
-to pay special attention to transport of foods as well as coal and mining product export, and work in correlation with all sides involved,
-to have railway staff in Zamiin-Uud work remotely, and establish infection controls.
