Dundgobi /MONTSAME/. Ger museum, featuring works, artifacts and tools used by Gabji Zava Damdin, the prominent figure in Mongolian religion, culture and science as well as Buddhist philosopher, historian and the first member of the Mongolian Institute of Scripture is being kept in the Museum of Dundgobi aimag.


This ger museum not only promotes the cultural heritage, historical tradition and mentality of Buddhism but also regarded as one of the most important historical heritages of Mongolia.


Zava Damdin was born in 1867 as the fourth son of herdsman Shagdar in Dundgobi aimag. In 1869 or at the age of three, he starting living with his uncle, Luvsanjamba, where he was taught to read, write, translate, and memorize.


He continued his studies even in Wutai and Beijing. Then in 1918, he established the Delger Choir Monastery in Mongolia and spent the rest of his life there.


He is credited with making a significant contribution to the history of human development in Mongolia by writing 16 volumes on Choir's philosophy and writing the historical book "Horchoinjun" in Tibetan.


His works, artifacts and tools were gathered together for the establishment of the ger museum in 1996, and in 1997, on his 130th birth anniversary, the ger museum was transferred to the museum of the aimag.


In 2003, Luvsandarjaa was recognized as the reincarnation of Zava Damdin.
