Shizuoka Prefecture’s Yaizu City Middle School Students Tour Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar, August 14, 2025 /MONTSAME/. In May, the city of Yaizu in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, announced a drawing contest on the theme of “About Mongolia” for its middle school students, and the 10 winning students visited Mongolia on August 4-9, 2025.
The contest, organized for the first time, drew active participation from Yaizu City’s middle school students. An exhibition of the winning works was held at School 149 in Chingeltei district, Ulaanbaatar, where the visiting students explained their drawings and spent a day with Mongolian peers. They also learned about the traditional Mongol Script and cultural heritage and deepened their knowledge of Mongolia through games such as ankle-bone shooting and traditional puzzles.
According to the Embassy of Mongolia in Japan, Yaizu City has been carrying out a series of initiatives as part of the 10th anniversary of its cooperation with the Chingeltei district. These activities are serving as a good example in promoting local-level relations between Mongolia and Japan.
