Search and rescue services joint training held

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Representatives of the National Emergency Management Agency including head of the Disaster Management Department, colonel B.Mandakhgerel, commander of National rescue brigade, colonel D.Namsrai and 10 parachutists participated in the ‘Sarex-2018’ joint training of search and rescue services of Mongolia and Russia.
The joint training held in Ulan-Ude, Buryatia was organized for the fifth year under the intergovernmental agreement between Russian Federation and Mongolia. The training is aimed at building cooperation between search and rescue services of neighbor countries to provide emergency assistance to those affected by air crashes.

Practices on searching a device returned to the Earth during air crash in space and providing assistance to cosmonauts were conducted at the training. The rescue parachutists of the National rescue brigade at the NEMA have successfully participated in the training for the fifth year and were highly appreciated.

The search and rescue services joint trainings have been held every two years since the first training in 2010 in Russia. Mongolia conducted the training in Khatgal village of Khuvsgul aimag in 2012 and in Elsen Tasarkhai sand dune of Uvurkhangai aimag in 2016.
