PM Reviews Preparations for UNCCD COP17

Ulaanbaatar, December 8, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Mongolia will host the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (COP17) in Ulaanbaatar in 2026.
Preparations are underway to hold the main conference activities on the eastern side of the National Garden Park, with work progressing according to approved designs.
Because the UN requires COP events to be organized in an open-air setting and away from drinking-water sources, the area was selected to meet these standards.
As of today, construction of engineering networks, including water supply, sewerage, electricity, and telecommunications, has been fully completed and handed over to the state commission last November.
Roads and parking facilities are 45 percent complete. Due to freezing temperatures, outdoor construction has been temporarily suspended, with major works scheduled to resume in March next year.
COP17 will take place in Ulaanbaatar from August 17 to 28, 2026, and is expected to bring together between 8,000 and 12,000 participants.
