Ulaanbaatar, December 8, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Ulaanbaatar has cleared 3,933 household land parcels in 2025 to make way for redevelopment projects. Clearance work will continue in 2026.

The Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar, Nyambaatar Khishgee, said, “As of this year, 3,933 land parcels have been cleared to support ger area redevelopment and the construction of engineering and social infrastructure. This has created space for roads, utility networks, substations, flood-protection structures, schools, kindergartens, parking areas, and housing for 11,500 families.”

In 2026, the city plans to clear around 600 additional parcels in Dambadarjaa, Sükhbaatar District. Further clearance is planned near the 5th and 6th bus stops in Chingeltei District’s 14th khoroo; in the Gandan area; on the slope behind the “Urgoo” cinema; in khoroos 4, 5, and 8 of Songinokhairkhan District; around Tsaiz 16 in Bayanzürkh District; and near School No. 34 in Khan-Uul District.

According to the Governor’s Office of the Capital City, under a mayoral decree, fences, garages, and outdoor retail kiosks have been removed from public areas to improve safety, expand pedestrian space, and increase green areas in the cleared zones.
