Japan to Fund Khovd Aimag's Children's Palace Renovation

Ulaanbaatar, March 13, 2024. /MONTSAME/. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia Igawahara Masaru and Governor of Khovd aimag E. Bolormaa signed a Grant-Aid Agreement on the Project to Renovate the Children's Palace of Khovd Aimag under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects of the Government of Japan on March 11, 2024.
In his speech, Ambassador Igawahara Masaru expressed confidence that through the project's successful completion, children would participate in extracurricular activities at the center with a healthy and supportive learning environment.
Also, Governor of Khovd aimag E. Bolormaa noted, "We extend our gratitude to the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects and the people of Japan for their longstanding support. We are therefore sincerely pleased that the Children's Palace will be renovated in 2024, designated as the "Year to Support Children and Human Development," focusing on children's development, safety, education, and health."
The renovation project includes:
- Repairing the roof and exterior facade,
- Upgrading the interior by replacing ceilings, doors, and floors,
- Improving the heating and ventilation systems,
- Upgrading radiators for better efficiency,
- Renovating sanitary facilities.
The project will improve the hygiene and learning environment of the center, allowing the children of the aimag to grow up in a healthy and safe environment.
The Government of Japan has implemented the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects in Mongolia for 34 years, since 1990. The Children's Palace Renovation Project is Mongolia's 602nd project funded under the Grant Assistance and the 22nd in Khovd aimag. The maximum funding limit for this project is USD 201,476.
