Mongolian Academy of Sciences to cooperate with Hungarian Research Institute

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On July 1, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and the Hungarian Research Institute.
The memorandum was signed by President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences D.Regdel and Director-General of the Hungarian Research Institute Gábor Horváth-Lugossy.
With aims to carry out studies on the history and culture of Hungary and Mongolia, various research programs will be launched in fields such as archeology, archaeogenetics, history, historical linguistics, ethnography, and folk music in the framework of the cooperation. Furthermore, mutual assistance and support will be provided for each institutions’ professional programs.
The signing ceremony was attended by Ambassador of Hungary to Mongolia Dr. Borbala Obrusánszky, Director of the Archaeological Research Center at the Institute for Hungarian Studies Makoldi Miklós, Vice President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences G.Chuluunbaatar, and Director of the Archeological Institute G.Eregzen.
During the ceremony, President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences D.Regdel said, “I am happy to see the start of several large-scale works kicking off thanks to the initiative of the newly appointed Hungarian Ambassador as well as her prior experience with Mongolian Studies. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of our scientific organization as well as the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences. The first Hungarian researcher carried out archeological excavations in Mongolia in 1961. I express my gratitude to you all for launching another excavation work, intensifying our cooperation after 60 years.”
Director-General of the Hungarian Research Institute Gábor Horváth-Lugossy said, “In the framework of our visit, I am grateful that two noteworthy events have taken place - the launch of the archeological research on the Hunnu noble burial at Belkhiin Am as well as the signing of the memorandum of cooperation. From our institute, we plan to publish a joint Hungarian-Mongolian scientific journal which will include all research sectors.”
