Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On September 15-18, 2020 a training on bee keeping was held for administration staff, rangers and buffer zone community members of Khan Khentii Strictly Protected Area which was supported by GIZ SPACES Project.
The training was held by the Supreme Council of Mongolian Beekeepers Associations for three days at Khangal Lake Natural Monument in Umnudelger soum of Khentii Aimag. It consisted of theoretical and practical lessons with a focus on the winter preparation for the bee farm.
Bee farming is an economic activity that is very suited for
protected areas. It can provide additional income for the buffer zone
population and potentially play an important role in improving sustainable
resource management.
SPACES is supported by the German Government and implemented
by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in
cooperation with the Department of Protected Area Management of the Mongolian
Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
