Event organized for gender equality and women’s empowerment

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. On May 28, the Mongolian Government organized the side-event on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment and the Implementation of SDG 5 in Asia and the Pacific during ESCAP's 75th session in Bangkok, Thailand.
Mongolia was elected as a member of the UN Women Executive Board for the first time and started working from January, 2019.
Over 50 delegates participated in the side event, where Foreign Affairs Minister D. Tsogtbaatar and UNESCAP Executive Secretary Armida Alisjahbana delivered speeches. At the event, UN Women’s Deputy Regional Director Anna-Karin Jatfors introduced the process of the implementation of SDG 5 and best regional experiences.
Head of the
Secretariat of the National Committee on Gender Equality T.Enkhbayar and
representatives from India and Bangladesh gave presentations on policies and
activities of their governments for ensuring the implementation of sustainable
development goals and gender equality and spoke about challenges and actions to
be taken further.
