190 thousand head of livestock to be tagged
Economy | AgricultureUlaanbatar /MONSTAME/ The steering committee of the Animal
Identification and Registration System (AIRS) pilot project held a meeting
today, on February 6. The meeting was attended by representatives led by Deputy
Minister of Food Agrictulture and Light Industry J.Saule and FAO Representative
in Mongolia Vinod Ahuja.
The committee reviewed the actions taken under the project
in 2019 and approved its plan of action for 2020. The plan includes a number of
actions such as reforming the current animal identification and registration
system, developing a database, providing the necessary equipment and software,
training herders and officers, and road testing of Animal
Identification and Registration System.
Under the project, 190 thousand head of livestock of Bayangol, Guchin-us, Uyanga, and Bat-Ulzii soums of Uvurkhangai aimag will be registered and tagged.
