Discussion Held on Improving Cooperation with Neighboring Countries in the Transport Sector

Ulaanbaatar, July 3, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The Ministers of Transport of Mongolia, the Russian Federation, and the Republic of Kazakhstan held an official meeting during the “12th meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Ministers of Transport."


Member of the Government of Mongolia, Minister of Road and Transport Delgersaikhan Borkhuu, emphasized the importance of focusing on strengthening broad-scale, mutually beneficial cooperation with these neighboring countries and expanding cooperation in road, railway, and automobile transport sectors reflected in the “Mongolia-Russia-China Economic Corridor.” The parties discussed further developing transportation in the territories of the three countries, establishing mutual direct flights in the air transport sector, increasing the number of flights, and improving passenger transport flow.


Additionally, the parties exchanged views on pending issues in the development of cooperation in the air, road, and railway transport sectors with neighboring countries and discussed potential solutions. Specifically, during the bilateral meeting held with Dmitry Stanislavovich Zverev, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, the two sides exchanged views on cooperation in the transport sector and new railway projects, agreeing to plan and review route directions with more precision and to meet again.


Furthermore, the parties noted that mutual understanding, cooperation, and a unified position among the transport sectors of Mongolia, the Russian Federation, the People’s Republic of China, and the Republic of Kazakhstan are crucial for the construction of new railway lines, reparation of existing railways, upgrading passenger trains, and ensuring safe and comfortable travel for the public.
