Mongolian, Polish Parliamentary Groups Discuss Strengthening Cooperation

At the beginning of the meeting, Member of Parliament Zoljargal Jargalsaikhan expressed pleasure to meet again since the last visit of the Poland-Mongolia parliamentary group members in 2018. Member of Parliament Zoljargal stated that, in line with the Comprehensive Partnership established by the Heads of State within the framework of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and in line with the detailed five-year plan, Mongolia is working towards tangible results.
The importance of cooperation between parliamentary groups in the practical implementation of Memoranda of Understanding within the framework of economic, trade, agricultural, scientific, and technological cooperation, as well as in executing the outcomes of the political discussions and agreements, was noted. Specifically, Member of Parliament Zoljargal highlighted that Mongolia seeks to strengthen economic cooperation by co-implementing large programs and projects that would serve as a symbol of the bilateral relations. Thus, the sides exchanged views on setting a date for an intergovernmental economic cooperation committee meeting within the framework of the historic anniversary.
Member of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, Head of the Poland-Mongolia parliamentary group, Stanisław Gorczyca, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and emphasized that cooperation between the Mongolian State Great Khural and the Polish Sejm dates back to 1989. Briefly mentioning past official visits and meetings between the two legislative bodies, the member of the Sejm suggested that meetings be held once every two years.
During the meeting, the sides discussed in detail the outcomes of projects and programs implemented under the intergovernmental framework agreement on concessional loans, as well as future priority initiatives. Under the framework of the agreement, projects to build water purification facilities in five aimags, as well as initiatives to supply equipment for emergency response and ambulance services, are successfully underway. Members of the parliamentary group also plan to personally review progress on the solid waste processing plant being implemented in Orkhon aimag.
Deputy Head of the Mongolia-Poland Parliamentary Group in the State Great Khural, Zayaabal Batjargal, expressed satisfaction with the steady expansion of bilateral relations, noting Mongolia’s interest in learning from Poland’s industrial experience and its policies to diversify the economy. Meanwhile, Member of Parliament Luvsanjamts Ganzorig highlighted that through successful economic reforms, Poland has achieved remarkable progress in per capita GDP and created sustained growth based on industrial development.
Participants further emphasized Poland’s valuable experience in improving the management and efficiency of state-owned enterprises and agreed to exchange views openly on enhancing the legal framework of Mongolia’s mining sector.
