Shurentsetseg Secures Mongolia’s Second Medal

Ulaanbaatar, April 26, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Mongolia has secured its second medal at the Asian Beach Games, which returned after a 10-year hiatus. International Master Shurentsetseg E. brought home the country’s second medal.


Competing in the women’s 57 kg division, she received a bye in the opening round. In the quarterfinals, she defeated South Korea’s Lee Yeonji, but lost 5–2 to the Philippines’ Annie Ramirez in the semifinals. She went on to claim the bronze medal by defeating Thailand’s Nuchanat Singchalad 8–2 in the bronze medal match.


Shurentsetseg previously won a bronze medal at the 2024 World Championships. The jiu-jitsu competition at the 6th Asian Beach Games has now concluded, with Mongolia finishing with two bronze medals. International referees Buyandelger B. and Munkh T. also represented Mongolia as referees at the event.


In addition, Suvd-Erdene B., a student at the Mongolian National University of Education, competed in the long jump event in athletics. Among 23 athletes, she placed 11th with a jump of 5.07 meters. Previously, she won three silver and one bronze medal at the National Sports Festival, a silver medal at the East Asian League, and gold and silver medals at the National Championships.
