Vietnam National Assembly First Vice Chairman Pays Official Visit to Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar, October 2, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Deputy Chairman of the State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia, Purevdorj Bukhchuluun, received Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Tran Quang Phuong, and his accompanying delegation on October 1, 2025.


On the historic 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership was established last year, and this visit is notable as it is being undertaken at the level of the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam for the first time in ten years. The Deputy Chairman welcomed the distinguished guests and underlined that the traditional friendly relations between Mongolia and Vietnam have been enriched with new content and diversified forms of cooperation.


He commended Vietnam’s rapid economic development, achieved through the collective efforts of its people and consistent policies based on solidarity and consensus. Highlighting that the two countries’ economies are complementary, he noted the ample opportunities to expand trade turnover and investment.


Deputy Chairman Purevdorj emphasized that the ongoing visit holds significant importance in strengthening the legal foundations of mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, economy, production, and investment sectors. The Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong expressed gratitude for the warm and cordial welcome extended to him in the land of the eternal blue sky and stated that he is delighted to be paying a visit together with the delegation of the National Assembly at such a favorable time in the historic traditional relations of the two countries. He conveyed that the Vietnamese people have always remembered with gratitude and appreciation the moral and material assistance and support extended by the Mongolian people during historical periods of the relationship, particularly in times of hardship.


In this regard, taking into consideration the strong ties of relations and cooperation between the two countries, as well as all resources and opportunities, the sides concurred that the current volume of trade turnover remains insufficient. The Socialist Republic of Vietnam has projected its GDP growth to reach 8 percent this year and has set the goal of attaining double-digit growth within the next five years. Furthermore, the Vice Chairman presented experiences of supporting stable economic growth through increasing foreign investment, expanding the space for the private sector, and consolidating its position in international integration.


He also referred to the systemic reforms aimed at making the state structure more efficient and compact, consolidating administrative units, and introducing digital transformation at all levels. The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly further noted that it is appropriate for our two countries to institutionalize new mechanisms of relations in line with the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and emphasized the importance of enhancing the involvement of relevant ministries and agencies in the practical implementation of Memoranda of Cooperation and dialogues.


Deputy Chairman Purevdorj underlined that there is full potential to increase the supply of meat and meat products to the market of Vietnam and expressed his commitment to prioritizing bringing the trade imbalance to an appropriate level in the future.


During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on broad opportunities for cooperation in defense, security, trade, economy, investment, education, and tourism. The meeting was attended by a Member of the State Great Khural and Head of the Mongolia-Vietnam Parliamentary Group, Bayarmaa Judag; Member of the Mongolia-Vietnam Parliamentary Group and Member of the State Great Khural, Iderbat Tsagaankhuu; Member of the State Great Khural, Batchimeg Purev; and First Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the State Great Khural, Ariunkhur Choijilsuren, among other officials. The official visit of Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong and his delegation to Mongolia is ongoing.
