Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan Attend Opening Ceremony of National Naadam Festival

Ulaanbaatar, July 11, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Their Majesties Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan, who are on a State Visit to Mongolia at the invitation of President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, attended the Opening Ceremony of the National Naadam Festival as Guests of Honor.
The celebration commemorated four historic Anniversaries of profound national significance, namely the 2234th Anniversary of the founding of the first Mongolian state, the 819th Anniversary of the establishment of the Great Mongol Empire, the 114th Anniversary of the restoration of national independence and sovereignty, and the 104th anniversary of the People’s Revolution.
Following the Opening Ceremony at the National Central Stadium, President of Mongolia H.E. Khurelsukh and First Lady Bolortsetseg, together with Their Majesties, warmly greeted the assembled festivalgoers. His Majesty Emperor Naruhito also visited the traditional archery grounds and the knucklebone shooting pavilion, where His Majesty was introduced to Mongolia’s rich cultural heritage and customs.
His Majesty Emperor Naruhito previously attended the Naadam Opening Ceremony in 2007 during his official visit to Mongolia as Crown Prince.
