Gonchigsuren Wins Gold at Abu Dhabi Grand Slam

Ulaanbaatar, December 1, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The International Judo Federation’s “Abu Dhabi 2025” Grand Slam tournament took place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, from November 27 to 29, 2025.


In the men’s +100 kg category, member of the national team of Mongolia and International Master of Sport Gonchigsuren Batkhuyag defeated Russian judoka and Olympic and World bronze medalist Tamerlan Bashaev in regular time to claim the gold medal.


Led by coaches Nyamlkhagva Purevjorj and Boldbaatar Chimed-Yondon, a total of 15 Mongolian judokas competed at the event, securing one gold and two silver medals for the national team.


With these results, Mongolia ranks fourth among 52 participating countries at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam.
