Quilted Art Special Exhibition to Open
Art & Culture
Ulaanbaatar, December 2, 2025
/MONTSAME/. In commemoration of its 21st anniversary, the Mongolian
Quilting Center will organize a special exhibition titled “Weaving Peace and
Eternity” from December 5 to 7, 2025, at Norphei Art Gallery.
The exhibition will showcase over 150 quilted artworks, including
the world’s only and largest quilted art piece of the Ulzii Pattern. This artwork was created
collaboratively by artisans from nine districts of Ulaanbaatar, all 21 aimags of Mongolia, and 20 countries from around the world. To this day, it remains
the largest and most unique quilted piece featuring the Ulzii
motif, and preparations are underway to submit it for registration in the Guinness
World Records.
A distinctive feature of quilted art is that it is made by assembling small fabric pieces, reflecting the artisans’
sincerity and tireless dedication. Organizers emphasized that the exhibition is
not only about craftsmanship but also a significant cultural event that brings
together women’s unity and labor, Mongolian traditions, and national pride.
Patchwork textile art was first introduced in Mongolia in 2004, when the “Shine Zamnal” NGO opened the Mongolian Quilting Center.
