Art & Culture
Ulaanbaatar, June 30, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The first solo sculpture exhibition titled “The World of Juraan” by Lkhagvasuren Nyamkhuu, a freelance artist and laureate of the Union of Mongolian Artists, opened on June 28, 2025, at the Zanabazar Museum of Fine Arts.
At the opening ceremony, Honored Cultural Figure and cartoonist Tsogtbayar
Samandari remarked, “The creator of these works, Lkhagvasuren, like us, is a modern nomad who carries the memory and heritage of
the nomadic Mongolians. At the same time, he is a spiritual nomad who
persistently seeks and explores new ideas and approaches and tirelessly labors,
constantly transforming.”
Artist Lkhagvasuren displayed around 30 bronze sculptures,
created using the casting method for over seven years. The artist noted that
the inspiration for sculpture came to him while watching his dog named Chico,
which led him to decisively enter the field of sculpture. In other words, the
art of sculpture fully captured his heart and soul, and although sculpture
creation demands considerable time and cost, he mentioned during the opening
that he is already engaged with his next works.
The artist Lhagvasuren named the exhibition “The
World of Juraan” simply after his childhood nickname called by
his family, without embedding any special concept. The exhibition is supported
by the Group “Better to Open Your Own Chest than to Search Others.” It is also
the first project of the informal Group to support national creators.
The exhibition will run until July 4.
