Ulaanbaatar, November 5, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Head of the Social Policy Department of the Governor’s Office of the Capital City (GOCC) Sh. Ankhmaa has received representatives from the Korean Academy of Addiction Psychiatry and the Department of Psychiatry at Seoul National University Hospital.
During the meeting, the Governor’s Office of the
Capital City, the Health Department of Ulaanbaatar, and the Addiction Center of
Ulaanbaatar discussed opportunities for cooperation with the Korean Academy of
Addiction Psychiatry and the Department of Psychiatry at Seoul National
University Hospital in developing community-based approaches to addiction
treatment and prevention.
Officials highlighted that in recent years, the digital consumption of children and adolescents has significantly increased, raising the risk of addiction. Research shows that adolescents spend 2.9 times more time on screens than adults, which can lead to internet addiction, insomnia, and difficulty concentrating. Experts emphasized that addiction is not only an individual issue but also affects families and close relationships, posing serious risks to mental health.
According to the Governor’s Office, the parties agreed to cooperate in developing community-based mental health policies and implementing joint programs focused on addiction prevention, research, training, and treatment for adolescents and young people.
