‘Whole Liver-Mongolia’ program runs nationwide successfully

At the meeting, the Health
Minister thanked for their visit to render support to the implementation and
enrichment of database of Mongolia’s National Program ‘Whole Liver- Mongolia’.
Mongolia is successfully implementing
‘Whole Liver-Mongolia’ nationwide, which aims to eliminate infections of Hepatitis
B and C among population, one of major objectives of the Government’s action
plan 2016-2020.
The Ministry has set the
objective to fully involve 2,185,264 citizens in the Hepatitis B and C tests by
2020. The program implementation was launched in 2017. The initial phase
covered 353,445 or 47.1 percent of people in the target age group of 40-65.
In 2018, the program second
phase involved citizens aged 16-39 in free tests. 61.2 percent or 425,611
people of the group got the free tests.
Within the framework of Whole Liver
–Mongolia Program, Hepatitis B and C tests are free of charge and medicines for
hepatitis are being discounted 60 percent by the Health Insurance Fund (HIF).
The HIF spent MNT18.8
billion on the program implementation in 2017 and MNT 19.8 billion in 2018.
For 2019, it targets to involve 1,053,960 people in the tests and spend MNT32.7 billion on the tests and expenditure of medicines, reported the Ministry of Health on February 12.
