Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Opening ceremony of the Development Center for Children with Disabilities took place on January 24.

The center was built with Chinese non-refundable aid of USD 30 million on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and China, which falls this year.

The 14990 square meter center will provide rehabilitation treatments and training for 500 patients. Moreover, the development center is equipped with a swimming pool and each department has a disabled shower and toilet.

Referring to the center as ‘The Building of Friendship’, Minister of Labor and Social Protection S.Chinzorig noted, “In a way, this event denotes both governments’ close attention towards Mongolian children and their development.”

“About 11 percent or 11 thousand of the 103 thousand persons with disabilities in Mongolia are children. Equipped with 250 beds and the latest medical and rehabilitation devices, the development center will make significant contribution for development and rehabilitation of these children,” said the Minister.

Ambassador Xing Haiming underlined the development center is one of the largest humanitarian projects in Mongolia implemented with Chinese non-refundable aid of USD 30 million.

The construction work of the development center began in 2016 with non-refundable aid from the Government of China and was successfully completed by constructors of the two countries under support of the corresponding ministries. Moreover, Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi during his visit to Mongolia in 2018, guaranteed the additional funding for further developing the center and agreed to train the medical professionals that will be working at the center in China.
