Birth rate increases by 5.4 percent

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the first 10 months of 2018, 64.1 thousand mothers delivered 64.5 thousand babies (live births), increased by 3295 mothers (5.4 percent) and 3328 live births (5.4 percent) compared to the same period of the previous year. In October 2018, 6519 mothers delivered 6554 babies (live births), increased by 286 mothers (4.6 percent) and 270 live births (4.3 percent) compared to the previous month.


In the first 10 months of 2018, there were 865 cases of infant mortality, increased by 16 cases (1.9 percent) and 1088 cases of under-five mortality, increased by 54 cases (5.2 percent) compared to the same period of previous year. In October 2018, 71 cases of infant mortality were recorded, decreased by 32 cases (31.1 percent) and 97 cases of under-five mortality were recorded, decreased by 25 cases (20.5 percent) compared to the previous month.


In the first 10 months of 2018, infant mortality rate per 1000 live births were 13, decreased by 1 compared to the same period of the previous year, whereas under-five mortality rate per 1000 live birth were 17, which is equal to the same period of the previous year. In October 2018, infant mortality rate per 1000 live births were 11, decreased by 5 and under-five mortality rate per 1000 live births were 15, decreased by 4 compared to the previous month.

In the first 10 months of 2018, maternal mortality was 15, which is equal to the same period of the previous year. In the first 10 months of 2018, maternal mortality ratio per 100 000 live births were 23, decreased by 2 compared to the same period of the previous year.

In the first 10 months of 2018, 34.3 thousand cases of communicable diseases were recorded, showing a decrease of 2395 (6.5 percent) compared to the same period of the previous year. This decrease was mainly due to declines in foot and hand month (2668 cases or 49.6 percent), varicella (2179 cases or 27.4 percent), tuberculosis (222 cases or 6.9 percent) and viral hepatitis (44 cases or 10.0 percent). However, diseases such as shigellosis (2137 cases or 64.6 percent), gonococcal infection (818 cases or 25.5 percent), mycoses (168 cases or 13.8 percent), trichomoniasis (115 cases or 3.3 percent) syphilis (48 cases or 1.0 percent), have increased. In October 2018, no HIV/AIDS cases were detected and the total number of HIV/AIDS cases became 266.
