Dr. Masataka Watanabe receives Honorary Professor award from NUM

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Dr. Masataka Watanabe, the Professor of Chuo University and Chair of Global Adaptation Network was awarded a title of Honorary Professor from the School of Arts and Sciences of the National University of Mongolia for his practical contribution to the Mongolian science, in particular of the NUM.
As a global leading scholar in the studies of adaptation of environmental change, Dr. Masataka Watanabe was appointed as the Co-chair of the United Nations Environmental Program’s Asia Pacific Adaptation Network in 2011 and Chair of Global Adaptation Network in 2006.
Since 2006, Dr. Masataka Watanabe has implemented various international level projects and programs of significant importance with various organizations such as Sub-Assembly of Geology and Geography of Mongolia, Mongolian Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Environment and Green Development of Mongolia, NUM and Information and Research Institute of Metrology, Hydrology and Environment of Mongolia. His contribution plays an important role in establishing research stations for research and monitoring of long-term environmental changes of forest steppes and grasslands in Mongolia.
Previously, Dr. Masataka Watanabe was awarded “Leading Environmentalist” award in 2014 for his contribution to the Mongolian science development, expanding bilateral researches into global studies and preparing scholars and scientists in Mongolia.
The award ceremony was attended by B.Bayartogtoh, dean of the School of Arts and Sciences of NUM, Dr. Masataka Watanabe and other scholars, professors and researchers in the field.
