Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. At the Cabinet’s
regular meeting on August 25, Minister of Health S.Enkhbold did a presentation
on intensifying the efforts to involve the country’s
total population in early detection checkups from January 1, 2022.
From 2018, the Health Insurance Fund has been providing financing for involving citizens aged over 18 in a package of 12 types of diagnostic tests ranging between MNT 43,000-75,000 at public and private hospitals.
Unfortunately, according to the statistics for 2020, only 7.9 percent of the 2.67 million citizens above the age of 18 were involved in medical checkups for early detection. Regarding the matter, a working group has been established in charge of reforming the health package, intensifying the task to involve citizens in mandatory checkups once a year.
The Minister of Health emphasized that measures are
planned to be taken to increase the number of diagnostic tests in the health
package, and strengthen the healthcare system, infrastructure, equipment and medical
specialists in rural areas especially.
The leading five diseases among the population include cardiovascular
and respiratory diseases, gastrointestinal disorder,
sexually transmitted diseases, injury, and poisoning as well as those caused by
other external factors.
