Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. During the cabinet’s meeting dated June 1, Tuesday, it was informed that Mongolia officially opened its borders starting from June 1. This will allow Mongolian citizens to travel to more than 10 countries whose borders are currently open to foreign passengers, including Turkey, U.S., United Arab Emirates, Greece, Thailand, Indonesia, Brazil, Egypt and India.

The cabinet secretariat’s press office reported that the government is working to issue COVID-19 vaccination certificate for those travelling abroad and is holding diplomatic talks with foreign countries, such as China, South Korea, Kazakhstan, United Kingdom and Hungary, to have the immunization record approve by them in order to increase the number of countries Mongolian citizens are free to travel to.

As a measure to prevent from COVID-19 infections, Mongolia started gradually closing its borders to all passengers, including its own citizens, since late January 2020.

Earlier, certain entry requirements for travelers entering Mongolia have been announced, in which all passengers are required to present a negative COVID-19 test or to have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
