Documentary heritage to be preserved in digital form

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO today has launched a training themed ‘Preservation, protection of and access to documentary heritage’ in partnership with the UNESCO Office in Beijing.

 

The two-day training is being organized within the Memory of the World Program, which has been carried out since 1992. Impetus came originally from a growing awareness of the parlous state of preservation of and access to documentary heritage in various parts of the world.  


The training intends to raise awareness and knowledge on UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Preservation of, Access to Documentary Heritage in the Digital Era, issued in 2015. It enables the attendees to discuss general principles on transformation of documentary heritage into digital form and its further preservation and protection. More than 20 specialists including researchers of archives, museums, universities and colleges are taking part in the training, having lectures of UNESCO experts.
