Social protection services introduced at Open Door

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In aims of informing the public about activities of labor and social protection sector and giving one-stop services to people, an ‘Open Door’ event of organizations affiliated with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection took place at the Sukhbaatar Square on April 30. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the International Labor Organization and 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Labor being marked this year, the event was organized in the capital city, three remote districts as well as in 21 aimags.


Aside from introducing the state policy and works on labor, social protection and population development being done by the Ministry, proposals were received from people in regard with amendments and revision of the bill, which is currently being formulated. 

The event was attended by 60 major employers and 10 private-owned labor exchanges, presenting over 2,000 job vacancies.

Furthermore,government organizations for social insurance, welfare, child protection, youth development and elderly organized a meeting to receive the citizens’ suggestions and gave one-stop services, solving their issues and requests immediately.


In his opening remarks, Minister S.Chinzorig said, “Last year, the country’s economy grew by 6.9 percent, with the budget revenue exceeding MNT 10 trillion for the first time. However, as the economy is still not strong, the government is working to distribute the growth to each citizen. For instance, the salary which wasn’t increased since 2014 has been increased twice recently. With the government pay scale renewed in correlation with public servants’ work load and skills, their salaries have been increased by up to 27 percent. We are also planning to focus on the elderly and people with disabilities.”


During the event, the Rehabilitation and Training Center at the General Authority of Development of the Persons with Disabilities provided people with comprehensive advises on taking preventive measures against occupational illnesses, receiving medical assistance and evaluating the work environment. The center’s manufacturing process was also presented to the public. The orthopedic and prosthetic factory is the only factory, manufacturing prosthesis nationwide.

Director of the factory Ts.Jambalvandan said, “With 13 workers at our factory, we manufacture 45 types of prosthesis. As of 2018, the number of people with disabilities is around 105 thousand in Mongolia. In the frameworks of the event, we are taking measurements from people with disabilities for orthopedics and prosthesis, which will be ready in 14-45 days. Our factory has been operating according to the global standard since 2007.”
