On April 18, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed 'Minutes of Meeting' with the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia and the Environment and Climate Fund, mutually agreed upon the framework and contents of technical cooperation for the Project for capacity development to establish a national green house gas inventory cycle of continuous improvement.

UNICEF Report: Children are most vulnerable to mining related in-migration in Mongolia
The movement of people in connection with mining has significant impacts on children, reveals UNICEF report on the impact of in-migration on children in mining-affected communities in Mongolia.  Launched today, the report is the first of its kind that provides better understanding and evidence of how and why children are affected by in-migration.

Daughter saved by mother with a successful liver transplant surgery
A team of doctors from the First Central Hospital and National Center for Maternal and Child Health of Mongolia and ASAN Medical Center of the Republic of Korea successfully performed a liver transplant surgery on April 22, Saturday.

"Investor Nation 2017" investment forum is taking place at Corporate Convention Center between April 22 and 23. Amendments to Labor Law approved
The Parliament approved amendments to the Labor law at today’s plenary session. It is common that employers in manufacturing and service sectors hire persons without establishing labor contract and not giving salaries for a certain period of time. Therefore, lawmakers included new articles on probationary and training periods to regulate the issue in detail. The amendments indicated that an employer can make employee practice, following an experienced employee to improve his/her skill and experience and the probationary period should not exceed 3 months.

Madam Butterfly opera to be staged
Artists of the Mongolian State Opera and Dance Theatre will perform "Cio-Cio San” /Madama Butterfly/ a three-act opera play by Giacomo Puccini on April 22.  B.Enkhnaran, a soloist of the theatre will play the role of Cio Cio San, a beautiful and intelligent young girl.

Gobi Great Six campaign reports on half-year activity
“Gobi Great Six” half-year meeting took place in Ulaanbaatar on April 18 to discuss works carried-out, ongoing measures and actions to be performed within the framework of protection of the endangered Gobi Great six species, wild Bactrian Camel, Gobi Bear, Takhi or Wild Horse, Khulan or Wild Ass and Saiga Antelope. The species are symbols of well-being and health of the Gobi ecosystems.

Parliament Speaker receives delegates of "Sufficiency" program
On April 20, Parliament Speaker of Mongolia M.Enkhbold received Director, Access Operation & Emerging Markets Southeast Asia at Gilead Sciences Inc. Ben Kamarck and LF Asia LLC’s Vice President Peter Yeung, Senior Vice Presidents Samson Tsoi and Danny Ching.   Gilead Sciences Inc. is implementing “Sufficiency” program which is providing “Harvoni” hepatitis C virus drug at affordable price and free of charge treatments for the 45-60 years old people infected with hepatitis C in Arkhangai aimag by the initiatives of MP Yo.Baatarbileg.

U.Bolortuya becomes best goalkeeper of East Asia Girls Tournament
A goalkeeper of Mongolian national girls’ soccer team U.Bolortuya has won the best goalkeeper prize of EAFF U-15 Girls tournament 2017. An international competition for girls, under-15 age category has been organized for the first time in the East Asian Football Federation on April 16-21 in Shanghai, China and it was also the first official competition for Mongolian girls’ team. Ten teams of East Asia participated in the tournament and the Mongolian team played three games, collecting four scores. Mongolian women referees E.Khuslenzaya and Ts.Oyundari worked in the tournament

Vehicle emissions to be identified using remote sensing device
The Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has started measuring emissions of vehicles to identify their toxic contents. Some surveys show that 10 per cent of air pollution in Ulaanbaatar is caused by vehicle emissions. Therefore, the Minister of Road and Transportation Development issued an order to establish a working group in charge of studying air pollution, making conclusions and developing proposals on solving the problem. With a request by the working group and the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the JICA team started the survey, experimentally placing Remote Sensing Device (RSD) nearby to the Bayanzurkh checkpoint on April 17.

Mongolians prefer organic in food products
A variety of natural products produced by 'environmental protection cooperatives' form all parts of  the country were on display during "Eco friendly production 2017" exhibition held at the central square on April 20.  The yesterday's event showed that the Mongolian people have become highly appreciative of pure natural products and prefer to use products with titles healthy and organic in their daily life.

Landlocked countries’ Int’l think tank aspires to push forward trade liberalization
The International Think Tank for Landlocked Development Countries (ITT for LLDCs) and the University of Sydney jointly organized a conference themed “Exploring Connectivity in Landlocked Developing Countries” on April 20 at the UN House in Ulaanbaatar. The participants ran discussions under three spheres of connectivity: International trade; Information and communication technology; and Transport.

Two medals added from Jiu Jitsu World Championship
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ “Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship” the largest professional Jiu Jitsu championship, in accordance to the “Abu Dhabi World Jiu-Jitsu Festival 2017”, is taking place between April 18 and 22. Presently, Mongolian athletes have brought home 2 medals from the female category.

Dornod aimag to be involved in MERIT project
Funded by the Canadian Government, ‘Mongolia Enhancing Resource Management through Institutional Transformation’ (MERIT) project is being implemented in Mongolia. Dornod aimag is to be involved in the project and a cooperation agreement was signed by Governor of Dornod aimag M.Badamsuren, Director of the project Sandy Fir and other officials on April 19.

Int’l “Technology & Investment in Mongolia” conference taking place
“Technology and Investment in Mongolia 2017” international exhibition and conference is commencing today, April 20, with a sub-conference on mining sector. Project of 1000 temporary housing units to commence soon
On April 19, G.Munhkbayar, Minister of Construction and Urban Development met with Cao Zhiang, Secretary of Economy and Commerce of the Asia Division of the Department of Foreign Assistance of the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China. During the meeting, the Mongolian Minister touched on a subject to launch a project to build 1000 temporary housing units with non-refundable aid from the Chinese Government.
