President Khurelsukh’s Visit Marks 70 Years of Mongolia-India Diplomatic Relations

Ulaanbaatar, October 13, 2025 /MONTSAME/. President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa has departed for a State Visit to the Republic of India at the invitation of President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi from October 13 to 16, 2025.
The visit marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and India.
During the visit, President Khurelsukh will meet with President Droupadi Murmu, hold official talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and engage with representatives of the media.
The two sides are expected to issue a Joint Statement of Strengthening the Strategic Partnership between Mongolia and the Republic of India and sign around 10 Agreements aimed at reinforcing the legal framework of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
President Khurelsukh will also lay a wreath at the Raj Ghat Memorial Complex dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, plant a commemorative tree with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and attend the unveiling of a postage stamp celebrating 70 years of diplomatic relations.
Mongolia and India established diplomatic relations on December 24, 1955. Ambassadors were appointed in 1956, with Mongolia opening its embassy in New Delhi that same year. India later established its embassy in Ulaanbaatar in 1971.
Over the decades, the two countries have deepened their partnership through a series of key agreements and declarations. These include:

- Declaration of Friendly Relations and Cooperation (1994)
- Comprehensive Partnership (2009)
- Strategic Partnership (2015)
To date, Mongolia and India have signed approximately 60
bilateral documents covering a wide range of cooperation. Notable agreements

- Agreement on Economic Cooperation (1994, Ulaanbaatar)
- Agreement on Friendly Relations and Cooperation (1994, Delhi)
- Agreement on Visa-Free Travel for Diplomatic and Official
Passport Holders (2005, Delhi)
- Joint Statement on Strategic Partnership (2015, Ulaanbaatar)
- Agreement on Air Services (2015, Ulaanbaatar)
- Agreement on Cooperation in Animal Health and the Dairy

The visit features a Mongolia-India Business Forum, along with “The Beautiful Country of Mongolia,” a cultural performance, and an exhibition of photography and the Morin Khuur (horse-head fiddle).
