Mongolian Athletes Win Five Medals in Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, and Freestyle Wrestling at Asian Youth Games

Ulaanbaatar, October 30, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The 3rd Asian Youth Games are underway for the seventh consecutive day in Manama, the capital of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
On October 29, Mongolian athletes competing in judo, freestyle
wrestling, and jiu-jitsu earned a total of five medals, two silver and three
bronze, adding to the nation’s tally.
In judo, B. Khulan of the Mon-Altius
Tsagaanbaatar Judo Academy won a silver medal in the women’s 40 kg category.
She defeated opponents from Tajikistan and Kyrgyz by waza-ari but was defeated
in the final by Uzbekistan’s Dilafruz Boltabayeva through osaekomi-waza (pin).
Two months earlier, Khulan had won a bronze medal at the World Junior
Championships.
In the women’s 48 kg division, E.
Temugen from the Jenko Club secured a clean victory over an athlete from
Tajikistan but lost to an opponent from India. He then triumphed in the
repechage round against a competitor from Jordan and went on to beat
Uzbekistan’s Diana Azambekova by yuko, claiming the bronze medal.
In freestyle wrestling, B. Buyantogtokh competed in the men’s 80 kg
category, defeating opponents from Jordan (11-1), Palestine (10-0), and
Tajikistan (5-4) to advance to the final. He ultimately lost to Uzbekistan’s
Bunyod Rufatov, earning the silver medal.
Meanwhile, Mongolia’s jiu-jitsu athletes captured two bronze medals. In
the women’s 52 kg division, B. Munkhjin defeated opponents from Syria and Thailand
before losing to a competitor from Kazakhstan. She then beat her Philippine opponent
3-0 in the bronze medal match.
In the men’s 62 kg category, B.
Altan-Erdene received a bye in the opening round, defeated an athlete from Vietnam,
and lost to Kazakhstan. In the penalty round, he overcame an opponent from
Jordan in overtime and then defeated Tajikistan on activity points to secure
the bronze medal.
After six days of competition, Team Mongolia ranks 29th overall with
four silver and six bronze medals.
