Isolation facilities for 1377 prepared in prevention of Omicron variant

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. In prevention of the Omicron variant, the State Emergency Commission have prepared isolation facilities for 1377 people so far, reported Secretary-General of the Commission T.Bayarkhuu at today’s Cabinet meeting.
The State Emergency Commission convened on November 27, making a decision to not allow the entry of foreign nationals arriving from, as well as those transited through the countries – South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Malawi, Belgium, Israel, Australia, Hong Kong, and Botswana – where the new variant of COVID-19 detected. Moreover, a decision was made to put Mongolian nationals arriving from the abovementioned countries under 10-day mandatory isolation.
Secretary-General T.Bayarkhuu said, “COVID-19 testing points are being set up at border control zones. The passengers who are arriving in Mongolia are required to hold negative PCR test result issued within 72-hours of the departure. On top of that, we are making rapid tests available upon arrival at the airport and other border checkpoints. To date, there are no occurrences of anyone who lived in the countries which found cases of the new variant, entering the country. However, over 10 people who transited through those countries are being isolated. The peacekeepers arrived from South Sudan have been placed under isolation as a prevention measure of local transmission although they had arrived before the outbreak of the new variant.
As some countries are imposing unforeseen restrictive measures, such as travel bans, internal movement restrictions, etc., the people have been advised to consider the possible risks and not to travel abroad unless it is necessary.
