Public universities and colleges to be developed as academic-research-industrial complexes

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At the Cabinet’s regular meeting on
September 15, it was decided to develop public universities and colleges as
academic-research-industrial complexes in rural areas to create
leading national universities and colleges with internationally recognized
curriculums.
Minister of Education and Science L.Enkh-Amgalan was
instructed to take the following actions:
-To develop public universities in Darkhan-Uul aimag as academic-research-industrial complexes,
-To develop universities of technology in Orkhon aimag as academic-research-industrial complexes of engineering and technology,
-To open a university of geology, mining, and technology as
a branch of the Mongolian University of Science and Technology in Umnugobbi
aimag,
-To align the plans to establish academic-research-industrial
complexes in the abovementioned three aimags with the local characteristics and
regional development concepts when developing them with the Mongolian State University
of Life Sciences, Mongolian University of Science and Technology, and the
Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences,
-To improve the curriculums of rural universities and
colleges and provide their academics with handheld computers in collaboration
with the Ministry of Finance to support distance learning,
-To develop and implement student loan, tuition relief, and
scholarship programs for students to study in rural areas together with the university
and local authorities,
-To improve social security for academics and provide
healthy and safe learning and living environment for students.
-To address issues regarding housing of academics and
students with the Ministry of Construction and Urban Development and the
Ministry of Finance.
