Batnorov soum of Khentii aimag to be developed as 'model' soum

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ With a view to promote rural development, the Government has resolved to implement ‘Reform of Soum Center’ program. In this regard, Cabinet Secretariat of the Government have selected five soums, which will be involved in the program after satisfying certain criteria, and presented them to the relevant Ministries.
Erdenemandal soum of Arkhangai aimag, Otgon soum of Zavkhan aimag, Batnorov soum of Khentii aimag, Ulziit soum of Bayankhongor aimag and Khairkhandulaan soum of Uvurkhangai aimag have been selected to be developed as a 'model' soum nationwide in the first place.
During his working trip to Batnorov soum, Chief of the Cabinet Secretariat L.Oyun-Erdene emphasized that the goal to decentralize and create favorable working and living environment in 99 soums of the country is outlined in the ‘Vision-2050’ long-term development program.
In frames of the ‘Soum Center Reform’, construction works with total cost of MNT 4.3 billion, such as an establishment of the new Local Administration Office, wastewater treatment plant and expansion of a 320-child school building, will be carried out.
In addition, organizations that operate in the soum center and households will be connected to infrastructure with cold, warm water and heat supply and issues on auto road and wastewater treatment plant will also be fully solved within the program.
Each soum will receive investment of MNT 4 billion within the program from the Government. If the program is successfully realized in the aforementioned five soums, the Government projects to involve all soums in the program in the future.
