‘Empowering assistant herders’ project to be carried out in four aimags

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The National Human Rights Commission of Mongolia (NHRCM) began implementing a project ‘Human rights training-Empowering assistant herders through herders’ self-assistance group’ in partnership with the Mongolian Women’s Federation from 2020. A working group of the project convened yesterday, March 23.
With support of the European Union, the project will be carried out in Arkhangai, Uvurkhangai, Khentii and Sukhbaatar aimags.
Head of NHRCM J.Byambadorj highlighted that this time is vividly demonstrating how significant the nomadic way of life and culture, as well as the importance of looking back to our tradition and culture and reviving and honoring them.
Last year, the NHRCM conducted a survey ‘Implementation of Human Rights of Herder Women: Rights to be free from violence, sexual and reproductive health and rights’. Based on the survey result and other information, the working group planned to attach special attention on herders’ rights and freedom this time, especially, issues related to labor rights of assistant herders.
