Ulaanbaatar, May 15, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Today, May 15, 2025, is International Day of Families. This year, the day is observed under the theme "Family-Oriented Policies for Sustainable Development: Towards the Second World Summit for Social Development."
The United Nations General Assembly, at its 47th Session on September 20, 1993, adopted a resolution to declare May 15 of every year as “International Day of Families,” starting from 1994.
It is widely acknowledged that the family is the smallest and most essential unit to the peaceful existence of a nation. Another definition is that the family is also considered the most fundamental microstructure of society. This day, celebrating families, has been observed since 2006, in line with the Law on “Public Holidays and Commemorative Days.”
International Day of Families highlights the importance of the family around the world and raises awareness of the challenges facing them.
