Mongolia, Japan to Expand Cooperation Between Disaster Management Agencies

Ulaanbaatar, December 1, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia Gankhuyag Khassuuri met with the Minister of State for Disaster Management of Japan Jiro Akama on November 28, 2025.


At the meeting, the Deputy PM Gankhuyag underscored the steadily deepening relations of Mongolia and Japan in all sectors and emphasized Mongolia's commitment to further strengthening cooperation in the fields of natural disaster response and emergency management, establishing cooperation framework between the disaster management agencies of the two countries, enhancing the capacity of officers of Mongolia’s National Emergency Management Agency, and exchanging experience in disaster management and other related areas.


Deputy PM also urged Japan to support two key projects: a mechanized warehouse for emergency food and supplies and a petroleum reserve terminal planned in Ulaanbaatar.



Minister Akama noted that disasters have become a pressing global challenge and highlighted the importance of close cooperation with Mongolia not only on a bilateral level but also within regional and international frameworks.


The two sides agreed to advance practical cooperation in the sector and enrich it with new areas of collaboration.
