Ulaanbaatar, May 22, 2024 /MONTSAME/. During its regular session on May 22, 2024, the Cabinet of Mongolia approved a Resolution on Regulation for Providing Government Support to Mongolian Educational and Lifelong Learning Institutions Operating Abroad. The Cabinet directed Minister of Education and Science of Mongolia L. Enkh-Amgalan to secure funding for the support within the 2024 budget allocation and implement measures for reflecting the necessary funding in the annual State Budget.

The Resolution will leverage Mongolian children living abroad to learn, inherit, and spread the Mongolian language, customs, and historical and cultural traditions. Also, it will be a significant step towards fostering the development of Mongolian people abroad, ensuring the implementation of legislation on education, and supporting the goals and objectives outlined in Mongolia’s long and medium-term development policies.

A total of 59 Mongolian language and culture centers, established through public initiatives, operate in 16 countries, including Germany, the United States, Canada, Switzerland, and the Republic of Korea. These centers, ranging from schools and kindergartens to cultural centers and summer camps, provide training in Mongolian language, history, music, dance, and chess to over six thousand children.
