Hay preparation runs at 70 percent

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. As of October 23, 915.3 thousand tons of hay, 200 thousand tons of straw, 27.4 thousand tons of pungent fodder, 3240.7 tons of silage and 40 thousand tons of salt have been prepared for the upcoming winter with overall performance of 70 percent.
Winter preparation goes above 50 percent in aimags namely Bulgan, Darkhan-Uul, Dornod, Uvurkhangai, Selenge and Uvs while preparation is running at 89-100 percent in aimags such as Bayan-Ulgii, Khuvsgul, Khovd, Khentii etc.
There
are approximately 84.2 million livestock nationwide as of August 20 of which 541.5
thousand camels, 4.5 million horses, 5.4 million cattle, 39.6 million sheep and
34.5 million goats. In accordance with the grazing capacity, 67.7 million
livestock is able to winter and it necessitates 16.5 million head of
livestock to be consumed.
