Mongolian delegation attending 140th Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Deputy Speaker of the Parliament L.Enkh-Amgalan together with MPs Ts.Tsogzolmaa, B.Saranchimeg, N.Oyundari, G.Soltan, and N.Uchral is participating in the 140th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) taking place in Doha, Qatar on April 6-10.


The assembly is being held with involvement of around 2000 representatives from 160 countries including experts of United Nations and other international organizations, parliamentary staff, advisors, and embassy representatives.


On the first day of the assembly, the Mongolian delegation took part in the meeting of the IPU’s Asia-Pacific Group. The meeting unified the regional parliaments’ positions on amendments to the statutes of IPU and other issues including draft laws. IPU President Gabriela Cuevas Barron, in her address at the meeting, congratulated Mongolia for playing host to the ‘Second Regional Seminar for the Asia-Pacific Region Parliaments on Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals’ to be held in Ulaanbaatar this May.


Moreover, nominations were made for IPO permanent committee members at the meeting. From Mongolia, MP N.Oyundari is being nominated for member of the Standing Committee on Peace and International Security and MP N.Uchral for member of the Standing Committee on United Nations Affairs.


It is worth mentioning that MP B.Saranchimeg currently serves as a member of the Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights.
